Weve been waiting for non toxic black out curtains and the wait is finally over! The customer service is Excellent and the quality of the curtains look great, I combined 4 panels on a large window with sheer linen panels behind and it gives a luxury hotel vibe to our bedroom. Completely black out. Definitely recommend.
Got these after reviewing the much more expensive (and often uglier) alternatives like metal framed toolless insert blackout shades ($500) and professional window treatments ($1000).
They are truly black-out, heavy enough not to move too easily, and cleverly portable. Love that they're universal size - we have large 5' x 3' ish windows and didn't even need the XL version.
At first they seemed to be aesthetically meh (they needed heavy ironing upon arrival and the top edge of the curtains in particular seemed to sag between the velcro'd corners, leaving a gap) but with a set of attractive braided magnetic tie-backs from Amazon and drawing the shades in front of the gap, they actually ended up elevating our space and making it comparatively more bedroom-y and designer looking than without!
I'd love to see more color options, tie backs sold with the curtains or as accessories, and perhaps a Velcro strip or other solution for the top horizontal edge issue (but easily DIY'd).
Very happy in the end :)
Great quality... good price... no smell. Installs with ease.
I would suggest the velcro to be the same color as the fabric... More appealing from the outside.
Thank you
I have a window behind my bed and, even with blinds, the light filtered through and kept the room bright on long summer nights as well as early morning.
I ordered one panel of the blackout curtain and boy, did it make a difference! My room is now pitch black and I love it!!!
The material is beautiful and is so well made!!!
Everything they stated is true! It's excellent material... and unlike the vinyl products out there, NO odor, stays cooler to the touch - less, or no heat transfer - and it's fabric, so it is foldable! Minor caveat... we couldn't make a custom size, so there's no way to attach the Velcro where I want it. I'm using the old vinyl cover Velcro, which is attached to the window screens. The Velcro on the Sleepout curtains is stiched, so you can see little DOTS of the stitching when there's sun beaming through the window. Also, there is bleed around the edges, as I can't push them flat enough...but it's not any more or less than the old vinyl panels. We are getting new windows, so I may use the Velcro sections - we bought those as extras - and attempt to attach the curtain along the outside of the window, instead of inside. This may block more light, OR...it'll create leakage... not sure yet. Either way, they're better than the vinyl by FAR, and the elimination of the "cooked vinyl/pvc" odor is great! I also love being able to easily fold or roll-up the panels during the day. They remove easily from the windows, as stitching the Velcro is much stronger than the vinyl panels of just sticking it on.
So the only issue, is some bleeding where the panels go inside and can't attach perfectly to the window screen's Velcro patches. But we would match it up differently when we get our new windows in July.
Need custom sizing, and would pay more for that. But even with the basics, the concept works. I have not yet tried out the suction cup method...perhaps that will yield better blocking results. Taking screens on and off daily is annoying - little clips...and they'll weaken over time, etc.
So easy to install. I was afraid the suction cup wouldn’t fit under our wooden blinds but it was no trouble at all. We have our grandson Mon-Fri and have a crib in our home office. It’s nice to be able to take the curtain down on Friday after the last nap and no trouble hanging again on Monday.
The suction cups went on easily. The one curtain fit tightly across the window making the room very dark I love how I can put it up quickly when my Grandson stays overnight. He is used to a dark room.
Easy to install and it works!!!! No light in that room now!!! Love it!
They work great on my window (faces the rising sun in the morning). Blocks out light tremendously well and when taken down in the morning (my wife likes to look out the window), you can feel the heat being blocked!
A great product and easy to use!
Outstanding blackout curtains. Love the white inside lining.
I was very skeptical but desperate. My bedroom windows were covered with three layers of cheap black out curtains, fleece blankets and more. They worked but what a mess! This simple set up by Sleepout has beed a game changer. They work! Amazingly so. When I first saw them I thought “oh sure. We’ll see”. Went up fast, great fit for my windows. Yes, they aren’t cheap. You get what you pay for - ingenuity. Now to see how they fare against the sun/heat, winter/cold. Im a newby and have just put them up.
Great product! Easy to install, no smell and does the job.
They really offer white and they block out light
I love this curtain. I am using it in unusual situation to stop direct sun in my patio and create some shade across a door window. I thought about how I would use it for some time before deciding. But it has worked really well, and I am happy I went with it.
These are a night shifters dream come true! Totally worth it!
Order process easy and delivery came earlier than expected
Suction cups work great
Darkness achieved better sleep results
Great product! Very easy to put up/take down and makes travel that much easier !
Just bought these for my bedroom .. they work like a charm .. especially if you don't want the hassle of installing curtain rods .. the only thing with the suction cups is they only stick to windows .. they won't stick to walls without glue, in the case of your window having a screen. Otherwise, these should have been available a long time ago.
It works very well to keep the light out of my bedroom: Perfect size, easy to install and put up / take down. My cat has a tendency to mess with window shades so it's nice to hav a portable option we can put up when sleeping and take down when we want some light. Also I have a 6-year-old kid and this is perfect for the summertime when he insists that bedtime is "during the day"!
